Alignment Layer

Applications

The alignment layer made of polyimide is used to control the orientation and pre-tilt angle of liquid crystals. Our alignment layers are designed for TN or VA modes that provide wide processing margins for LCD manufacturers and ensure excellent performance of LCD panels. After a rubbing process, the TN alignment layer creates and imprints a series of parallel microscopic grooves into a film substrate. In both VA or TN modes, polyimide within the alignment layers forces liquid crystal molecules between the alignment layers to turn in a twisting motion.
